TED and Bigger Industries

Entertainment and technology are two of the fastest growing industries in the world right now. The design industry is equally as important with specialized focuses in architecture, graphic and or fashion. So of course there are many different types of groups that cater to these three big businesses. One of those particular organizations is TED which is simply technology entertainment and design. TED was formed in 1984 with the intentions of educating everybody about these types of sciences.

When TED was formed back in 1984 no one thought that this organization would grow to the large extent it has today. The first event was held in Monterrey, California, with the headquarters in New York and another farther north in Canada. There are conferences now being held worldwide within Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and even the Caribbean. The main focus of this group founded by the Sapling Foundation is basically to spread ideas about sciences and culture and make people all over the world strive to be better. With technology being such big business right now, everyone should be enlightened to great sciences and all types of new opportunities available.

The TED organization has had quite a few big name presenters and speakers at their conferences. Some of these influential beings include Al Gore, Bill Gates and former president Bill Clinton just to name a few. The famous presenters have an 18 minute time slot allotted for them to inform everyone of their ideas and how they feel things could be changed. For a few years there were even three TED prizes given to people who had the greatest wish to change to the world, the prize was a cool $100,000. The prizes were given so the receivers would have a chance to possibly create their great idea and present it at the next annual conference.

The organization’s conferences have grown so much over the past years there have been talks about maybe even broadcasting it online free for all to view. There is already a TED application available for mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad and also the Windows mobile phone. The app is not yet available in the United States though. But this organization has plans to grow even more and let the transcriptions be able in over 40 languages. TED is not just for the United States but for all over the world.

TED and TEDx are rapidly growing organizations with no ending in sight anytime soon. And they give everyday people a chance to voice their opinions and thoughts about technologies and design and entertainment issues.
